Our History

I made my first leather phone case in 2010. The iPhone 4 was new. I was working from a small bench in Hong Kong, learning the material by getting it wrong, then getting it less wrong. The cases were simple. The leather was honest. People wanted them.

That was the beginning of TRIM Leather.

For more than a decade, TRIM was one person and a bench, then two when my brother Benji joined me. We made leather goods to order, one piece at a time. iPhone cases, Apple Watch bands, wallets, straps, the small things people carry every day. We never grew it the fast way. We grew it the slow way, by making each piece as well as we could and letting the work bring the next order.

The craft didn't change much over those years, because it didn't need to. Full-grain oil-waxed cowhide. Cut and stitched by hand. Made once the order was placed, for the person who placed it. The leather marked and softened with use. No two pieces aged the same way, because no two lives are the same.

Early in 2026 the studio traded for a season under another name. The bench never changed, and neither did the work. The name has come back home now. TRIM it was, and TRIM it is: the same hands, the same standard, the same one-piece-at-a-time way of working.

The Archive

A studio that has run since 2010 leaves things behind. Samples, early pieces, leathers we no longer stock, designs we made once and never again. We are putting a small number of these original pieces up for those who want a part of where this began.

They are exactly what they are: made by hand, years ago, at the same bench. Some show their age. That was always the point. Each one is the only one, and once it finds a home, it is gone.

I'm glad you're here. Whatever you carry from us, leather or otherwise, it was made for one person. That has not changed since 2010, and it will not.
